Bow Restoration

If you are an archer whom wishes to have their bows last a life time, we offer a service that restores, re-finishes,
re-tillers and re-nocks. We can have your old or aged longbow/warbow looking like new in no time at all.

We feel if you have a longbow / warbow that shoots well and suits you, then the last thing you want is for it to
fail on you due to age and moisture getting into the wood.

Italian Yew Warbow


Celestino Poletti Italian Yew Warbow


These bows are made by professional bowyer Celestino Poletti, they are made in Italy from Italian mountain Yew trees. They can be made up in draw weights from 75lbs to 180Lbs@32 Inches.

Celestinos bows are state-of-the-art heavy draw weight Longbows/Warbows. These are replicas of the bows found on the Mary Rose and are the closest you will come to owning a bow from the Tudor Warship. A lot of the heavy draw weight archers use these bows and they can send a half inch Livery Arrow in the region of 200 Yards Plus.

Your bow will be produced completely by hand in the traditional medieval manner
from a single stave of yew wood ...... No Billets!

The Archers of the day generally used bows from 100lbs@32 – 180lbs@32

Bow Grips

We are able to re-grip your bows for you in braid, velvet, leather & stingray. Grips can be done in either one long strip wrapped around or stitched as shown below. The colour of your grip can be chosen or discussed when you contact us. Prices vary depending on material and turn around time can also vary due to stocks.

Barebow Archery Yew Warbow/Longbow


These bows are made by professional bowyer Ben Perkins, they are made from English, American and Italian Yew.
They can be made up in draw weights from 75lbs to 150Lbs@32 Inches.

These are replicas of the bows retreated from the Mary Rose Ship, the bows used by the English armies in the Hundred Years War. The staff at BarebowArchery have taken careful measurements of the original bows from the Mary Rose Museum and go out of their way to produce you a bow that is correct in every way.

These bows are capable of sending a half inch Livery Arrow in the region of 200 Yards Plus.

Your bow will be produced completely by hand in the traditional manner
from a single stave of wood....No Billets!

Custom Bows

The crafting of laminate full compass bows is really the main area we concentrate on, that is bows that bend through the handle or Come Round Compass, which are high performance and very smooth to draw & shoot. As you can see we produce custom made bows and have been commissioned to make Longbows, Warbows, Flatbows and Selfbows .

We have been asked to produce bows to many different specifications and will happily any bow.

Using various woods, Stained wood, Varying draw lengths, Bows between 25Lbs & 110Lbs, Buffalo/Cow horn nocks, Self nocks, Leather grips/Stingray grips/No grips, Two laminations, Three laminations, More laminations......really the list is endless.

Contact us with your specification, or for free advice, on your dream bow and we will discuss the details through with you. Once we have your desired specifications we will give you a production time and cost, then start work on your bow once payment is received.

Once completed you will have your final update and your bow will be polished with Oil and Wax. Now the bow will be packaged in a tube and sent out to you via courier.Turn around time on bows can be a maximum of two to three months depending on material availability and waiting list.
